My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9
Have you struggled or do you know someone who has struggled with an addiction? You’re not alone and whatever the addiction – it separates us from God. It makes us feel like we have something to hide, it hurts our health or the health of those around us, and sometimes it goes against the Word of God.
It’s natural to want to hide the problems we face. But in order to overcome our vices it’s crucial that we face them. When our problems are kept in the dark they continue to haunt us, but when they are brought into the light we have the ability to defeat them. Faith can help us do this!
1 John 1:5 says, “This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.” We also see in Scripture that we have been called, like God, to be a light to the world (Matthew 5:16; John 8:12). When we decide to follow Christ, we are deciding to let his Light shine on us, illuminating the hidden areas and helping us have victory over sin and darkness.
